JUST IN: Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner Showed Up to a Party in the Exact Same Spring Shoe
As usual, Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner are ahead of the curve.
To live in Los Angeles, or any part of the country where seasons are merely suggestions, is to wear spring shoe trends while the rest of us slosh around in snow boots and Uniqlo Heat Tech socks. Both Bieber and Jenner were photographed out in Los Angeles on January 5 wearing the easy, lightweight footwear trend that’s about to be everywhere in 2025: the flat loafer.
The chunky, lug-sole loafer that was so popular in 2024 got a sleek makeover for the year ahead. The razor-thin sole is more in line with the barely there flat-shoe trends from brands like the Row and Alaïa. These are shoes for grounded women who want to feel every crack in the sidewalk, every pebble underfoot, and look chic while doing so. (Or, for people who live in the car-pilled city of LA.)
Hailey Bieber and Kendall Jenner even styled their loafers similarly, wearing wide-leg trousers and adding a pair of white socks—probably not for warmth, but rather, that eclectic grandpa-core vibe. Slightly oversized tops—a $2,150 cashmere polo from the Row for Jenner, a cropped leather jacket for Bieber—finished off the two minimalist ensembles.
Both women, as well as Hailey’s husband, Justin Bieber, were attending their pal Lauren Perez’s bowling birthday party at Lucky Strike Beverly Hills at the Beverly Center, which may have inspired their boxy attire. (Jenner’s sister Kylie, meanwhile, was 10 minutes away at the Beverly Hilton with her boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet, at the Golden Globes.) Is bowlingcore the next grandpacore?
If you currently own a pair of chunky loafers, do not fret. No need to cast them aside just yet! It’s 2025, and sustainability is on the brain. You could always do as Justin does, and style your heaviest shoe with that one pair of pants you have yet to take to the tailor. Or, if you live in a state where cold is some temperature below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, you could always style your chunkier loafers out with a pair of super-thick socks—maybe layered over tights? Nature tells us it’s only a matter of time before flat loafers are once again replaced with chunky versions anyhow
