The women didn’t sit anywhere near each other in the stadium — two separate suites for the normally together besties, per TMZ. Their seating positions during the home opener come at a curious time when Mahomes found herself embroiled in a Donald Trump controversy. It seems that she is supporting the former president on Election Day, but that doesn’t appear to be sitting well with most Swifties, who are breathlessly awaiting Swift’s possible endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Last season, the dynamic duo was inseparable and created major social media moments where they were cheering on their men during the games — Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce were well-represented in the stands. It begs the question of whether Mahomes’ Donald Trump support drove a wedge between them, or if they are only going to hang out behind closed doors — the optics are telling.

Donald Trump doesn’t seem to mind the controversy because he’s leaning all the way into it. He praised Mahomes on Truth Social on Sept. 4, “I want to thank beautiful Brittany Mahomes for so strongly defending me, and the fact that MAGA is the greatest and most powerful Political Movement in the History of our now Failing Country.” That ringing endorsement from the former president might have made Swift retreat just a little on game day. But remember, Brittany and Patrick Mahomes were both at Blake Lively’s birthday party weekend at the “Shake It Off” singer’s Rhode Island home recently, so this apparent snub is recent.

Mahomes isn’t interested in the fans’ opinions of her political choices either. She posted on her Instagram Story after it was discovered that she “liked” Donald Trump’s campaign agenda, “Contrary to the tone of the world today … You can disagree with someone, and still love them. You can have differing views, and still be kind.” Swift and Mahomes probably agree to disagree, but their BFF get-togethers might only happen in private moving forward — or at least until the election.
