A dart attack that could have been fatal ended with a prison sentence of five years and 10 months Monday.

Joseph Naes used a slingshot to fire the 6-inch-long dart on June 17, 2024, at another man on the East 162nd Avenue light rail platform, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in the case.
Naes recognized the man from an interaction the week before on the same platform. The barb struck 33-year-old Logan Sharp in the back and pierced his lung. As Sharp writhed in pain, Naes pumped his arms in apparent glee and then fled the scene with a woman, according to prosecutors.
The week before, Naes had been hitting a woman on the head at the MAX stop when Sharp walked by and told him to stop, according to the affidavit.
After his arrest, Naes told investigators he recognized Sharp from the prior encounter and admitted to the attack, according to the affidavit.
