“A former New Jersey high school teacher has been sentenced to 10 years in prison after authorities said she engaged in inappropriate conduct with two students.
Julie Rizzitello, who previously taught English at Wall Township High School, pleaded guilty last year to two counts of second-degree misconduct following her arrest in July 2024, according to prosecutors.
During a sentencing hearing at Monmouth County Superior Court, a judge ordered the 37-year-old to serve a decade behind bars. In addition to the prison term, she must register as an offender and permanently surrender her teaching credentials.
The case gained widespread attention across the state and sparked renewed discussions about professional boundaries and accountability within schools.
